C.Washington, DC: Government Printing Office, 1876.This analystical subject-author catalogue was a 96-page preview of what became known four years later as the Index-Catalogue of the Library of Surgeon General's Office. Reflecting Billings' long term view of the institution, this may have been the first publication to refer to the Surgeon General's library at a "National Medical Library."
