On the pathological changes in Hodgkin’s disease, with especial reference to its relation to tuberculosis.Johns Hopk. Hosp. Rep., 10, 133-96, 1902.Dorothy Reed’s classic work on Hodgkin’s disease included a study of the histological picture. She described the proliferation of the endothelial and reticular cells, and the formation of lymphadenoma cells – “Dorothy Reed’s giant cells”. The Reed-Sternberg cell is diagnostic of Hodgkin's lymphoma. Its existence disproved the then-common belief that Hodgkin's disease was a subtype of tuberculosis.
