This work underwent at least four editions, the last of which was published in 1851 under the title of Physician for ships....That edition included new material on California and the Gold Rush of 1849 and following years, "containing advice to persons bound to that region, both by sea and overland, for the preservation of health and cure of disease on their way and while employed at the gold diggings."
